Trips for children
Lots to do to keep the kids happy. Below is a brief list of possible children friendly excursions. If you feel like planning some days out before arriving, then we are only too willing to advise and assist you in that project.

- Aquarium du Perigord Noir – The largest fresh water aquarium in Europe displaying over 6000 fish in their natural habitat.
- Vallee de Singes – Over 30 species, and over 350 apes in a 15 hectare park – unique in France.
- Futurescope – sufficient exciting and unusual adventures for a couple of full days of visual spectacles. Discover the world from a new perspective.
- Grotte de Villars – An underground network of caves with impressive stalactites and exciting moving platform! (might be a little scary for very little ones).
- Lake Jemaye and Le Grand Etang de St Estephe – Fantastic swimming lakes with life guards and seperate areas for toddler swimming. Great playgrounds, cafes, and picnic spots. Free canoeing and marked trails for walking and bike riding – all set in the middle of the ancient Double Forest.
- Le Bournat. Recreated 18 century village to explore. Watch craftsman at work and join in with organised workshops.
- Velorail. The cycle railway winds its way, from Roumazieres to Confolens, along the old railway lines and gives a unique perspective of the Charante counryside.
- Go karting and Quad biking can be arranged with some prior notice.
- Pony Trekking. Again can be arranged with some prior notice. All levels of skill can be catered for.
- Canoeing. At several different places along the Dronne river you can hire canoes where you can be transported to another point and you paddle back. A waterproof barrel for refreshments or a pic-nic is provided so you can stop where you like. This activity is usually from 4 years of age upwards.
